Application | 3-ring -4,5,6, 7-tetraoxo-6-methyltributylphenol is a pharmaceutical intermediate, which can be prepared from malononitrile and 1-methyl-4-piperidone in one step. It has been reported in the literature that it can be used to prepare heterocyclic pyrimidine diketone compounds with a wide range of biological and pharmaceutical activities. |
preparation | with stirring, diethylamine (10 ml) was added dropwise to malononitrile (3.30g,3.15 ml,0.05 mol), 1-methyl-4-piperidone (5.66g,6.15 ml,0.05 mol) and sulfur (1.76,0.055) in absolute ethanol (10 ml). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 5h and then the separated solid was filtered, washed with ice water, dried and recrystallized from aqueous ethanol. The title compound was produced in a yield of 90%. |
